The BANGS Open Call is open for really everyone. You do NOT need to be a professional in whatever you are doing. It’s for everyone. Really. Unless you are not nice. Or don’t get the idea. And it’s for everything. It can be a performance. Or music. Or a workshop. Or whatever. Last year, some people welded together five bikes as their contribution. Lasted about 20 minutes. Was amazing. You can do something like that. Or something else.

Also, of course you CAN be a professional, it’s totally allowed, and you MAY propose a highly produced 5 hour rendition of gay Romeo and Juliette. We just need to find a way to make it work within our means.

Please, share this call as far and wide as you can! And share it with people who would never look at an open call. If that describes you who is reading this: We welcome YOU especially to propose your ideas!

Before you fill out the open call, read this page and this page.

The earlier you fill out the open call, the easier we can help you with everything. There is a deadline (terrible word): Submit your events no later than August 5, 2026!

Open Call!!

performers, support, tech, etc.
Description of your show/event/workshop. This is what people will see on the website.
Signal is a secure messaging app. We like to add everyone from the festival to a single group chat for coordination. We do not want to collect your phone number, just your username. You find it in the settings.
Description of your show/event/workshop. This is internal, not on the website – it’s for our planning and trying to figure out together what we need to do to get the show on the road with you! Be as practical and clear as you can. Some guiding questions: *What happens from the start to the end? What kind of atmosphere are you creating? *Where is the audience (ideally) located? Will they be seated or standing? Will they be moving (at times)?
You can also write that you would rather discuss this via Signal.
It’s totally okay if not. This is for us to gauge if you would like more support from us, within our means.
We can allocate based on availability, not preference, so please be honest. And keep the dates free! If there are changes, let us know as early as possible because it makes scheduling really difficult! We don’t schedule your event multiple times, only once.
We are able to “book” squats and non-squats, with different opportunities for staging and size. But we want some shows/workshops to be in public spaces, streets or parks, and some in more risky locations. Think banks, supermarkets, shopping malls, restaurants. This does not necessarily have to align with the content of your performance. It’s important to know because for riskier locations, we will be in touch with you providing legal support and support on the ground, etc. Contact us for questions, and feel encouraged to experiment with ideas.
You are not required to do this, of course. We just know that some people would like some more support in making these kinds of choices.
Some things need the wolves of the night, some things need the shop goers of the day! But we might need to be flexible here, and make wolves stay out at uncommon times!
We will do our best to accommodate, but our capacities are limited, and it depends on location. Please be as specific as possible.
Be as specific as possible. Brands, types, etc., how many of something you have.

Like, do you prefer not being around noises, or lots of people, or flashing lights, etc.
We can mobilise our network here a little bit, if necessary 🙂 Please specify when and what your needs are.
Other things we should know. Clarifications, uncertainties, etc.
Mainly, do you understand this is a non-commercial festival where we are all volunteers? And are you excited!!!
We don’t want to make this sound like an application, we are just curious.
