VONDELBUNKER BANGS

SUN, SEPT. 22, 21:00 @ VONDELBUNKER

Finish off this banging festival with some final performances and music. We invite you to celebrate the last couple days down in the Vondelbunker with a last manic lineup.

21:00 – The Rhizome
Duo that makes electro-indie/triphop music with lyrics ranging from the personal to the political. Our song Cancelled has big hit potential, according to an audience of mobility scooter drivers. You can practice the lyrics: blablablablablablablabla!

21:30 – How to Create a Dark Hole and Dissapear by Elliot Dehaspe
How to create a black hole and disappear is a rudimentary motor, a thing that keeps flowing and pulling things in and out, containing possibilities and perspectives which contaminate and dissect the things and people around with rhythm, image and energy.

22:00 – Daisy Ray
Belgian born composer and performer Daisy Ray will take you on a jolly ride, exploring EDM across its different genres.
Daisy sings of the birds and bees, shouting on repeat amidst sounds of barking hounds to a noisy beat.
Tuning into Daisy’s sonic universe – cut up, spat out, scorched and screwed – what Daisy’s songs have in common is that they never come out straight.
This year Daisy Ray happily released her first album “Shelly” on Heatcrimes (Athens); listen here; https://heatcrimes.bandcamp.com

22:45 – Frequencies of Sorrow by DOLOREM
Emotions are often expressed through words. We describe our pain, joy, fear, and other emotions with beautiful poetry and prose. Although words are highly effective tools to express emotion, they do not cover the less structured features of a feeling. This piece will explore the artist’s intense emotions and feelings that stem from their experiences with bipolar disorder through electronic sound. Like the disorder itself, the piece is created in the moment. Bipolar disorder causes emotions to shift like the wind. As such, the sounds produced will be fully improvised to illustrate the abstract and unpredictable nature of mood. Bio: Dolorem is a multidisciplinary performance artist whose work revolves around mood and emotion. They have a research background in the philosophy of horror in film, as well as over 20 years experience as an actor and improvised performer. This piece at BANGS marks their first ever sound-based performance.

Accompanying “Frequencies of Sorrow” will be a performance by Kiki Kazimi & Rick Jansen.

22:45 – 333: An invitation to be intrigued, or to look away…
by Kiki Kazimi & Rick Jansen

In this performance we are a manifestation of one entity divided into two bodies. One represents the physical Body in a state of paralysis, frozen in time. The other is the Mind, detached from their lucidity, in search of a release.

Within the context of BDSM, pain is often used as a way to process emotions, achieve a meditative state, or experience catharsis. By transforming pain into an intentional, consensual act, we can rewrite the narratives our bodies hold. Kiki Kazimi and Rick Jansen have previously worked together by hosting a needle play workshop.

Trigger warning: needles, maybe blood.
